Firm Owner Held on Waste Disposal Charges

Acids and solvents stored in leaking drums and disintegrating paper bags led to the arrest of an owner of a bankrupt chemical company in Paramount, officials reported Wednesday
Raafat Ramzi Wissa, 35, of Paramount was arrested on charges of illegally disposing of chemicals, sheriff’s spokesman Rick Adams said. The arrest followed a three-month investigation by the sheriff’s hazardous materials unit and the state Department of Health Services into the practices of Wissa’s company, Chemico Inc.
