Faria Takes 2 in Speedway Racing
Mike Faria of Colton won the scratch main and handicap main events of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night before 6,002 in the Orange County Fairgrounds at Costa Mesa.
In the four-lap scratch main event, Faria defeated Bobby Schwartz of Balboa, Mike Curoso of Fountain Valley and Tony Briggs of Dana Point. In the five-lap handicap main, Faria defeated Robert Pfetzing of Santa Ana, Bart Bast of Auburn, Bob Ott of Dominguez Hills, Tom Burba of Garden Grove and Greg Ayers of Cypress.
Kevin Krugh of Long Beach won the second-division main event, and Jim Pteery of Costa Mesa won the third-division main event.
