Andrews Still a Hit in Racquetball at World Games

LONDON —  Huntington Beach’s Ed Andrews and his U.S. teammate, Andy Roberts, continued to dominate round-robin play Tuesday, the second day of the racquetball competition at the World Games.

Andrews, who won in 1981 at the inaugural World Games at Santa Clara, overpowered Dutchman Arno Mooyman, 15-4, 15-4. Roberts, who won twice Monday, beat Jurgen Denk of West Germany, 15-8, 15-7.

In the women’s event, Mary Dee of Nashua, N.H., beat Nora Maldonado of Ecuador, 15-5, 15-4; and Cindy Baxter of Harrisburg, Pa., won by default when Costa Rica’s Anna Paulina Pacheco did not show up.

In other matches, Canada’s Roger Harripersad beat Yoshi Harasaka of Japan, 15-11, 15-2, and another Canadian, Carol Dupuy, downed Diana Almeida of Mexico, 15-10, 15-5.
