Irvine : Irvine Valley College to Celebrate Its Birth
California’s newest community college, Irvine Valley College, will celebrate its birth year with a wide range of community events in late October, it was announced Monday.
The college, formerly the North Campus of Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, became independent on July 1. College officials held a brief, low-key ceremony then, but the major celebration was delayed until fall, when students will have returned for fall classes.
College officials said the theme of the October celebration will be “A Salute to Irvine Valley College and Its Communities.” Activities will include an open house, an athletic event open to the public, possibly a triathlon, and the annual Associated Students Halloween Dance.
