Ventura County helped put a Pennsylvania fireworks firm out of business after it allegedly mailed illegal bottle rockets and firecrackers to a 17-year-old Oxnard boy, authorities said. Deputy Dist. Atty. Barry Klopfer said his office charged M & M Products of Philadelphia and three of its employees with deceptive advertising and unlawful business practices. Capt. Pat Logue of the Oxnard Fire Department said the case surfaced when he found a mail-order catalogue offering fireworks for sale and placed an order, receiving a pack of illegal fireworks. He enlisted the help of a firefighter’s 17-year-old son, who placed the order that led to the civil charges. A company spokesman said it was now closed for business because of ensuing legal action.
