Contract for Rent-Subsidy Vouchers Okd
A contract with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development for 118 rent-subsidy vouchers, the first to be used by the county Community Development Commission, has been approved by the Board of Supervisors.
This brings to 12,850 the total of the commission’s rental units subsidized in the private sector; it is the second largest program in the state and the fourth largest in the nation.
The vouchers are used to help defray partly the rent payments by low-income tenants in privately owned units. The recipients receive a fixed subsidy equal to the difference between 30% of the family’s adjusted income and the payment standard for their family size.
