An open-design competition for its new on-campus student housing development has been announced by Cal State L. A., with submissions due by Aug. 12 for initial (schematic) drawings of the project, accompanied with cost projections.
The apartment-style housing, with an overall budget of $8.5 million, will accommodate 632 students and bring on-campus housing capacity to 1,000, approximately 5% of the university’s total enrollment.
The project calls for a combination of apartment and dorm-type rooms to include bedrooms, kitchen, living and dining areas and shared bathroom facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in November.
