New Principal Begins Work: Anthony Ortega, former high school principal in the Chino Unified School District, has assumed his duties as principal of Laguna Beach High School. Ortega, who holds a doctorate from the University of Southern California, replaces Robert Hughes, who was principal for nine years. Ortega, a 20-year veteran of education, will be paid $47,420 a year and an additional $750 a year for his doctorate. He also was a teacher and assistant principal with the Anaheim Union High School District, and a principal with the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District.
