Guardian Angels Take to New York Elevators

NEW YORK — The Guardian Angels began riding elevators in midtown Manhattan skyscrapers Monday, to patrol for the so-called Midtown Rapist, who has attacked 10 women at knifepoint in two months.
“The point is to provide some safety and relief to the women of the midtown area who are terrified because of this attacker,” said Lisa Sliwa, a leader of the civilian anti-crime group, whose members usually ride subways.
Police have set up a special task force to investigate the attacks on women. They believe that one man is responsible for all the crimes.
