Tropical Storm Batters Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Tropical Storm Bob battered Florida’s Gulf Coast today, whipping up six-foot waves that crashed into beaches and sea walls and dumping more than 10 inches of rain on Marco Island, officials said.
The high winds and rough seas forced Treasure Salvors Inc. to stop bringing the treasure found Saturday up from the ocean bottom off Key West. But owner Mel Fisher said security forces were stationed at the site.
