Fair Sets a Record: The Orange County Fair closed Sunday after setting an all-time paid attendance record, said fair spokeswoman Jill Lloyd. The fair drew 288,431 paying guests, she said, up more than 20,000 from the previous record of 264,939 set last year. Total attendance was 362,907, up more than 40,000 from last year but shy of the 368,903 mark set in 1981. Non-paying fair visitors included children under 5, disabled people on handicapped day and children under 12 on kids’ day, she said.
