The body of a man found floating off Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach early Saturday evening remained unidentified late Sunday.
Joseph Cogen, a deputy county coroner, described the body as that of a 35-year-old man with brown hair, hazel eyes and a scar above his left knee.
Cogen said the man was 6 feet tall, weighed 209 pounds and was wearing blue swimming trunks with yellow piping. The words “San Diego State University” were printed on the trunks.
According to Cogen, authorities were beginning to wonder whether the man was from out of town and had once visited or lived in San Diego. He might have been passing through the area, recognized the place, and stopped for a swim, Cogen said.
Chris Brewster, a lifeguard sergeant, said people living on the cliffs spotted the body shortly after 6 p.m.
