Shell completed the purchase of 400 gas stations.
Shell Oil will take possession of the stations owned by Los Angeles-based Atlantic Richfield on Oct. 30 and convert them to Shell stations a month later. Arco sold the stations, located in eight Eastern states and Washington, D.C., because it plans to withdraw from the East as part of a major restructuring of its business. Arco plans to concentrate on its West Coast operations. The sale price wasn’t disclosed.
