Fiedler Favors Halting Subway Funds

WASHINGTON — Rep. Bobbi Fiedler (R-Northridge) said Friday that she would enthusiastically support an amendment to block new federal funds for the Los Angeles Metro Rail project, if the amendment were offered by another House member.
But she said she remains uncertain whether she would initiate the action herself.
Rep. Lawrence Coughlin (R-Pa.) said Thursday that he may move to delete $130 million for the subway from a $10.7-billion appropriations bill when it reaches the House floor.
The Times reported earlier that Fiedler had indicated that she might not support such an attack. But she said Friday that “if Coughlin or anyone else brings an amendment to the floor, I will enthusiastically support it.”
