TACOMA, Wash. — A Formula Atlantic race through the streets of downtown Tacoma, first of its kind in Washington state, has been tentatively scheduled for Aug. 8-10, 1986.
Formal announcement of the event was made by Schuck’s Auto Supply officials at a news conference here. Schuck’s will be the major sponsor of the race.
The race will be held over a 1.6-mile course that will be laid out in the vicinity of the Tacoma Dome.
The three-day event will begin with Friday qualifying and testing.
In conjunction with the race, an automotive exposition and show will be held in the Tacoma Dome.
Streets have to be repaved. Three miles of concrete barriers and fencing must be built. The cost will be shared by the city of Tacoma and the Tacoma Grand Prix Association.
