Ellis Valentine Signs Triple-A Contract
ARLINGTON, Tex. — Former Angel outfielder Ellis Valentine has signed a contract with Oklahoma City, the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate, and will join the 89ers on Tuesday, Ranger Director of Player Development Marty Scott said Saturday.
Valentine, 29, has eight years and 152 days of major league service with Montreal, the New York Mets and the Angels. He last played in the majors in 1983, when he batted .240 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs in 86 games with the Angels.
He was on the disabled list all of 1984 and was released by the Angels last winter. He has a career major league average of .278 with 121 homers and 470 RBIs in 883 games.
