DHAKA, Bangladesh — An overloaded motor launch struck another passenger vessel and sank in the Rupsa River, and at least 100 people were feared drowned, rescue officials said Friday.
The officials said in a telephone interview that the launch, the M.I. Sayeed, was carrying about 200 passengers when it sank last week in the Rupsa River near the port city of Khulna, about 190 miles southwest of Dhaka. They said about 100 swam to safety.
