Club Campaigns for Funds: Officials of the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley have begun a campaign to raise cash through grants, corporate donations and fund-raising events to pay for construction of a new facility southeast of the junction of Heil Avenue and Brookhurst Street, in Fountain Valley’s Mile Square Park. Director Chris Schneider said the club hopes to raise about $1 million, although he admitted this is “optimistic.” The club, which provides social, athletic and educational activities for Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley youths ages 6 to 17, has been granted a 25-year lease by the county and hopes to break ground in six months.
