Two young Pico Rivera men suffered fatal head injuries when their motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and they were thrown off the cycle. Sheriff’s deputies from the City of Industry station reported that the victims had been westbound on Temple Avenue when the driver, Jose Cruz Mendoza Jr., 19, was unable to steer through a curve just north of Valley Boulevard in the City of Industry. The motorcycle struck a curb. Both men, neither of whom was wearing a helmet, suffered massive head injuries from hitting the ground. Paramedics pronounced the passenger, Thomas Reyes, 19, dead at the scene. Mendoza was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina where he died.
