Bill Sheffield, governor of Alaska, indicated in Anchorage that he would be willing to call a special session of the Legislature to allow lawmakers to consider impeachment proceedings against him, Senate President Don Bennett said. A special grand jury has recommended that lawmakers consider impeaching Sheffield and aide John Shively for alleged abuse of power in negotiating a state office lease in Fairbanks to provide 32,000 square feet of office space.
