Soviets Deliver First 4 MIG-23s to N. Korea

TOKYO — The Soviet Union has begun delivering MIG-23 supersonic fighters, its mainstay air defense aircraft, to North Korea, a Japanese news report said Friday.
Quoting “international military sources,” the newspaper Sankei Shimbun said the first shipment of four newly-built MIG-23s arrived at a military base at Pukchin, about 320 miles northeast of the capital city of Pyongyang, late last month.
