A transient has been arrested on suspicion of vandalism in connection with a series of toilet cloggings at public beaches that have kept plumbers busy and bathers frustrated for two months, authorities said. Richard Bellamy, 34, was seen entering a restroom with a bag of trash last Wednesday at Zuma Beach, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Burns. When authorities entered later, they found Bellamy empty-handed and the toilets clogged with garbage, Burns said. Plumbers have worked eight hours a day, four days a week for two months to unplug toilets along a 20-mile stretch of beach from Marina del Ray to Zuma Beach, Burns said. Bellamy was jailed lieu of $500 bond, authorities said.
