E.T. PARAPHERNALIA
When I first saw artist Will Weston’s depiction of E.T. as a Hollywood mogul on the Calendar cover last Sunday, I was amused and thought the concept was quite clever (“The Second Coming,” by John M. Wilson, June 16).
However, upon closer examination, I became very disappointed to notice the implication of cocaine use by E.T. in the choice of jewelry he was wearing, i.e., a razor blade for “cutting” the coke and a small spoon for snorting.
To me, this could be interpreted by most people, especially children and adolescents, as an endorsement of cocaine use by this heretofore innocent and pure movie hero.
How sad!
