Orange County Transit District directors on Monday adopted a $91.1-million budget for 1985-86, up 6.3% from the current fiscal year, which ends June 30.
As in past years, the bulk of next year’s expenditures--about $75.8 million--will go toward operating the district’s bus and van fleet, with about $12 million allocated for capital projects, including progress on three new transportation centers in Laguna Hills, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.
The budget sets aside $3 million for development of new or improved mass transit systems and anticipates collection of $17.9 million in bus fares from a projected 35.5 million passengers. The fare box is expected to pay about 23.7% of the district’s operating costs next year.
