Pitcher Dana Gustafson of Bel-Air Prep was named the Westside League’s most valuable player.
All-league first team selections include Mike Proctor of Bel-Air Prep, Brett Phillips and Ron Walden of Clearview, Jeff Hults and David Needleman of Newbridge, and Steve Hobb and David Gottlieb of Yeshiva.
Santa Monica College sophomore swimmer Ken Whittle has been named the school’s male athlete of the year, and sophomore tennis player Julie Frasier has been chosen as the female athlete of the year.
Whittle, a backstroke specialist, was twice named a junior college All-American. Frasier, the Corsairs’ No. 1 women’s singles player, led her team to a Metropolitan Conference Championship.
