Six demonstrators shouted “Murderer! Murderer!” as they were dragged away by San Francisco police while protesting an appearance before the Commonwealth Club by the president of the rebel Nicaraguan Democratic Forces. Adolfo Calero paused during the outcries in the ballroom of the Hilton Hotel, then continued his speech, stressing the contras ‘ need for funds to continue fighting the Sandinista government. Jerry Messman Rucker, a UC Berkeley seminary student, was carried out while shouting at Calero, “You are the murderer of thousands of children.”
