San Pedro High School, designated as a “receiver” in the Los Angeles Unified School District’s efforts to relieve crowding at inner-city campuses, is expected to take in about 300 additional students this fall. The school’s current enrollment is about 2,300.
Most of the new students will be bused from the Bell, Huntington Park and South Gate areas in southeast Los Angeles and from Belmont High near downtown Los Angeles. The district tentatively plans to move five large bungalows to the San Pedro campus to provide additional classroom space.
