Irvine Tennis Team Loses to Pepperdine
The UC Irvine men’s tennis team (10-5) lost to host Pepperdine, 8-1, in a nonconference match Wednesday at Malibu. However, Irvine provided a tough test for the fifth-ranked Waves in the top three singles matches.
Irvine’s Bruce Man Son Hing, ranked 57th nationally, upset Pepperdine’s Dani Leal, ranked 23rd in the country, in the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-4.
At second singles, the Waves’ Carlos DiLaura defeated Steve Aniston, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, and at third singles, Pepperdine’s Ed Nagel beat Brad Ackerman, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6.
