Placentia : Armed Robber Escapes With More Than $1,000
A robber who brandished a gun at employees and customers escaped with more than $1,000 from the Bargain Basket Market, police said Wednesday.
The man, described as in his late 30s, wearing a beige baseball cap and orange-rimmed sunglasses, entered the store at 710 W. Chapman Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and ordered a cashier to empty two cash registers, Police Lt. Daryll Thomann said.
The man ordered a box boy and a customer with a 4-year-old son not to move and then fled on foot through the parking lot, Thomann said.
Police searched an alley at the west edge of the shopping center where witnesses said the gunman disappeared.
Thomann estimated that the robber got between $1,000 and $2,000. Police have no leads, he said.
