Burke Wins Sanders Tournament by Three
Pat Burke, a sophomore from Cal State Dominguez Hills, pulled away on the final nine holes for a three-stroke victory over UCLA’s Mark Levander in the 15th Annual Gary Sanders Memorial golf tournament Tuesday at Los Angeles National golf course in Walnut.
Burke, a native of Bricktown, N.J., shot a 68, low round of the day, for a 54-hole total of 205, eight under par. Levander shot a one-under-par 70 in leading the Bruins to the team championship.
UCLA, ranked No. 2 in the country, finished with a four-man total of 861 for 54 holes to edge UC Irvine by three strokes.
