Prep Soccer : Estancia Beats Rancho Alamitos

Dave Ursini scored 16 minutes into the first half Tuesday to give Estancia High School a 1-0 win over host Rancho Alamitos in a second-round game of the Southern Section 2-A boys soccer playoffs.
Jorge Cruz, the Sea View League’s Most Valuable Player, had the assist on Ursini’s goal, which helped improve the Eagles’ record to 17-2-4. Rancho Alamitos ended the season at 13-6-2.
In other boys’ 2-A action:
Corona del Mar 2, Apple Valley 0--Mike Perisi and Pat Merrill scored to lead the host Sea Kings (13-6-3) over the Sun Devils (11-9-2).
Anaheim 4, El Monte 2--Senior center-forward Curiel Garcia scored the Colonists’ first two goals on breakaways in the first half to lead the host Colonists (16-6-1).
In boys’ 4-A action:
Mater Dei 1, Canyon 0--Steve Schnick’s goal led the host Monarchs (17-3-3) past the Comanches.
In girls’ 3-A action:
Pacifica 5, Millikan 2--Gina Schneider scored three goals to lead the Mariners (13-2-3) past the Rams.
Esperanza 4, Arcadia 2 (SO)--The Aztecs (17-5-1), third-place finishers in the Empire League, advanced by beating the Apaches in a shootout. The score was tied, 2-2, after regulation.
Troy 1, Walnut 0--Durell Petrossi scored to lead the Warriors over the host Mustangs.
