PEKING — A blind giant panda has regained its sight after doctors removed a cataract from its left eye, China Daily newspaper reported Friday.
The 12-year-old female was rescued in November in Sichuan province, home of most of China’s 1,000 pandas. It was named Xiaxia, or Blind One, because it had lost sight in both of its eyes, China Daily said. Doctors earlier this month successfully removed a cataract from the panda’s left eye.
