Firm Says Most Recalled Fritos Were Recovered

Dallas-based Frito-Lay, Inc., which earlier this week announced a voluntary recall of 3,000 packages of Fritos brand corn chips after some were found to be contaminated with aluminum shavings, has recovered all but 50 of the packages, the company said Friday.
The three-quarter ounce packages of regular corn chips marked “March 4” with the letters “LA” were distributed to restaurants and concessions in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties but not to retail grocery outlets, company spokesman Elliot Bloom said.
Bloom said the shavings may have dropped into the packages during packaging at the Los Angeles plant.
