Verbatim will lay off up to 400 U.S. workers.
The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based firm, a leading manufacturer of floppy disks for personal computers, said the layoffs will begin March 31. Verbatim, with a payroll of about 2,900 workers, idled 475 office and manufacturing employees last year as competition in the floppy disk market drove prices down.
