Man Gets Life Terms for Killing Woman, Baby

PROVO, Utah —  Dan Lafferty, who says he slashed the throats of his sister-in-law and her baby on orders from God, was sentenced Tuesday to two consecutive life terms in prison.

Lafferty, 36, stood quietly as District Judge J. Robert Bullock handed down multiple prison sentences, including the back-to-back life terms, on six felony charges, including two of first-degree murder. Lafferty was convicted last week.
