San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein said she will veto a resolution by the Board of Supervisors opposing designation of Hunter’s Point Naval Shipyard as home port for the recommissioned battleship Missouri. The Navy said it is considering San Francisco along with Long Beach and Pearl Harbor as possible home ports for the rearmed World War II Vessel, but supervisors voted 6 to 5 for a resolution asking the Navy not to send the Missouri to San Francisco.
