The firm disclosed that it plans to enter the fast-growing machine-vision market, forming a new unit called Videk that will operate as a division of Eastman Technology Inc., a wholly owned Kodak subsidiary. “Videk will develop, manufacture and market intelligent-vision systems for use in factory automation and computer-integrated manufacturing applications,” said Herbert L. Rees, president of Eastman Technology. Vision systems are used to monitor production stages, inspect products and components and even enhance the manufacturing process, the firm said.
