John Paul Sr. Is Apprehended in Switzerland

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two-time world endurance driving champion John Paul Sr., who disappeared after his 1983 bond release on attempted first-degree murder charges, was apprehended in Switzerland, the FBI said Monday.
Paul was being sought by the FBI on an unlawful flight to avoid prosecution warrant for failure to appear for trial Dec. 12, 1983 in St. Johns County Fla. on a charge of attempted murder.
He was apprehended Friday by police in Geneva, Switzerland, said Lawrence Lawler, special agent in charge of the Jacksonville FBI office.
Carson survived the shooting, and police said the attempted murder charges against Paul were based on a statement from Carson and evidence gathered at the scene of the crime.
