Laguna Beach : Senior Housing Plans Go to Council Tonight
- Share via
Plans outlining the location of 12 low-cost senior citizen housing units in a eucalyptus grove in Laguna Canyon, near Thurston Park, will go before the City Council tonight.
The plans call for removal of three of the eight or nine trees. Some residents have suggested that fewer units be built and more trees saved.
The $540,000 project calls for 350-square-foot studio apartments built by a private developer or nonprofit corporation, possibly using federal funds. The city would donate the 23,500-square-foot site.
The council is considering either a one-story structure covering 40% of the lot or a two-story building encompassing no more than 25%.
