Evaline Khayat Kruse, a Los Angeles teacher who says her Lebanese parents gave her “a deep respect for education,” is California’s new Teacher of the Year. Kruse, who teaches at Audubon Junior High School, received the honor from the state Board of Education and state Superintendent of Public Instruction Bill Honig.
