St. Genevieve 39, Notre Dame 35 Paula Lucas scored 22 points, including all eight of her team’s points in the fourth quarter, to lead St. Genevieve High over Notre Dame.
St. Genevieve is now 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the San Fernando Valley League. Notre Dame is 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Free throws made the difference in the score. Both teams made 14 field goals, but Notre Dame made only 7 of 27 free throws. Lucas was 10 of 14 from the foul line, while the rest of the St. Genevieve team was 1 for 11.
St. Genevieve had a 27-17 lead early in the second half when Valiant center Ann Baida fouled out. The Knights cut the lead to 32-28 with five minutes left in the game but could not get closer.
Sophomore Christy Parker scored 12 points to lead Notre Dame.
