Challenger Gary Kasparov abandoned efforts to score his second victory in the world chess championship against titlist Anatoly Karpov and agreed to the match’s 34th draw. Kasparov, playing white, had been described as having a good chance of winning against Karpov, who leads 5-1 in the match, when the 40th game was adjourned Wednesday night.
