‘MRS. WOMAN OF THE WORLD’ PAGEANT DUE

A woman from Colombo, Sri Lanka, will be crowned “Mrs. Woman of the World” on a two-hour TV pageant airing Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. on KTTV Channel 11.
Mrs. Athula Senanayake (Rosie), mother of a year-old boy, was selected in the competition held in Hawaii. First runner-up was Mrs. America of 1984, Mrs. Kim Wolfe of Huntington, W. Va.
David Marmel, executive producer of the event, said the goal of the pageant “is to recognize the single most discriminated against person in the history of international beauty competition: the married woman.”
Vikki Carr and Richard Dawson host the telecast.
