The bodies of a 58-year-old Alpine man and his 55-year-old wife were found in their home Wednesday afternoon by their daughter, both with gunshot wounds to the head in an apparent murder and suicide, a San Diego County deputy coroner said. Anthony W. Caruthers, an unemployed marketing manager, apparently shot his wife, Mary Lee, in the head with a .22-caliber rifle before putting the gun to his own head, the deputy said.
