Chase Ends in Burglary Arrest
A Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and burglary Friday night after a truck he was driving crashed during a police chase through three Orange County cities, Fountain Valley police said.
Gregory Charles Sheppard, 19, who had been sought by police in connection with a residential burglary, was arrested after Huntington Beach police fired a round at the allegedly stolen truck in which he and an unidentified female juvenile were traveling. The truck then crashed into three parked cars near the intersection of Batavia Street and Palm Avenue in Orange, Fountain Valley police Sgt. Dale Herzog said.
Sheppard and the girl, who both suffered bruises, attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by police from Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Orange, Herzog said.
Sheppard is being held in Orange County Jail on charges of auto theft and burglary, Herzog said. The juvenile was taken into custody temporarily and released.
