Baseball: Chatsworth takes big step toward West Valley League title

Chatsworth took a two-game lead in the West Valley League after a 13-4 victory over Woodland Hills El Camino Real. Aaron Brown led the way with a grand slam and five RBIs. He also struck out four on the mound.
Reseda Cleveland defeated Woodland Hills Taft, 8-5. G Allen went three for three with two home runs and four RBIs. Andrew Devian added two hits
Pedro Santoyo threw a no-hitter to lead Birmingham past Granada Hills, 8-0. He struck out one and walked none. The only batter to reach base for Granada Hills came on a hit batter.
In the Valley Mission League, San Fernando and Granada Hills Kennedy set up a season-ending two-game series to decide the league championship by each winning. San Fernando defeated Reseda, 10-0. Kennedy defeated Van Nuys, 13-0, with Ryan Cruz striking out 10.
In the Marine League, Wilmington Banning moved back into first place with a 5-3 victory over San Pedro. Eric Magdaleno threw a complete game and Jonathan Hernandez hit two doubles.
In the East Valley League, Arleta (19-7, 12-0) defeated North Hollywood, 6-0, finishing with a 13-game win streak. Miguel Perez (7-1) threw a two-hitter. Verdugo Hills defeated Poly, 6-0.
Hollywood defeated Los Angeles, 4-3, in 11 innings. Jose Chavez threw nine innings for the Sheiks.
