San Pedro’s Pablo Rosales defended his title in the boys’ 1,600 meters by winning in 4:18.88 this evening at the City Section track championships.
After pushing his older brother for most of the race, sophomore David Rosales faded on the final lap and finished third in 4:21.38. Granada Hills’ Javert Solorzano made a strong push to finish second in 4:20.97. All three runners advanced to next week’s state meet in Clovis.
The girls’ qualifiers for the state meet in the 1,600 were Birmingham’s Vanessa Carr (5:14.11), Venice’s Jaclyn Walles (5:14.78) and San Pedro’s Laura Delgado (5:14.93).
