On Wednesday, Westlake Village Oaks Christian, Ventura St. Bonaventure, Simi Valley Grace Brethren and Oxnard Santa Clara will make a joint appeal to a Southern Section committee seeking to overturn a decision that put them in a football league together for the 2010 season.
If the appeal is upheld as expected, the Northern Area representatives will be instructed to meet again and come up with another plan for new leagues.
That’s when Oaks Christian is expected to join the Marmonte League. The big question is whether the Lions will join the league for football only or for all sports, replacing Calabasas.
There has been no consensus, however, regarding what to do about St. Bonaventure. The Channel League has been trying to rid itself of the Seraphs, who have never lost a league game. But the Catholic Athletic Assn. is refusing to accept St. Bonaventure, and that means the Seraphs could be stuck for four more years in a football league that offers little competition.
