Baseball: Marina holds off Norco, 1-0, in nine innings

The anticipated duel between Huntington Beach Marina’s Paul Strong and Norco’s Wes Hatton materialized as expected Friday night, and Marina was able to pull out a 1-0 victory in nine innings in a semifinal game of the Darryl Kile Memorial tournament at Norco.
Strong struck out 10 in eight innings. Hatton pitched into the ninth and struck out 11. Marina pushed across a run in the ninth on a bases loaded walk.
Marina, ranked No. 9 by The Times, improved to 13-2. Norco, ranked No. 24, is 9-3.
