With budget cuts looming, the City Section is on the verge of cutting freshman-sophomore boys’ basketball teams that play in the fall and freshman-sophomore girls’ basketball teams that play in the spring. That would save an estimated 152 buses, according to Barbara Fiege, the City commissioner.
A freshman-sophomore team would play in the winter, similar to what the Southern Section has, forcing City teams to play three games in one day, resulting in later start times for varsity games.
Fiege still has not made a final decision, and if anyone has a better idea, speak now.
